Professional Background and Journey:
Kimberley’s professional journey is shaped by her life experiences and unwavering advocacy for her children and community. Overcoming the challenges of teenage motherhood, gun violence, abortion trauma, abuse, the crack epidemic and triumphing over early-life adversities, Kimberley has dedicated the last 30 years to growth, healing, and working on behalf of her family.
As the mom of four exceptional children, Kimberley also intimately understands the unique challenges and injustices of her children and community. It’s this empathy and firsthand understanding, along with her extensive career in healthcare, human services, and work within the penal system, that propels her to strive for a more inclusive and just society for all.

Kimberley excelled in her role as Executive Director of MOBB United and MOBB United for Social Change (www.mobbunited.org). Kimberley’s personal values resonated profoundly with MOBB United’s mission to positively influence the treatment of Black boys and men in society.
Based in Houston, TX, Kimberley’s dedication to advocacy is deeply rooted in her role as a mom, which informs and fuels her commitment. Kimberley’s relationship with MOBB United began when her then 9-year-old son faced the unwarranted threat of arrest, prompting her to channel her outrage into action. This pivotal moment served as inspiration to join the organization and advocate not only for her son but for all children facing systemic racism and a lack of a voice.
Achievements and Contributions:
Kimberley’s contributions to MOBB United were extensive and far-reaching. As a national leader and board member before stepping into the role of Executive Director, she created mental health and autism awareness programs, provided counsel to families with special needs, and spearheaded an internship program, actively nurturing the development of numerous interns.
Kimberley continued to build the MOBB United infrastructure, moved programming to the next level with the launch of The New Talk: For Moms of Black Boys podcast, while she cultivated strong, long lasting strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations.
In addition to her remarkable work with MOBB United, Kimberley is also the Founder and President of A. Jay’s Fight (www.ajaysfight.org), a non-profit organization established in honor of her son. A. Jay’s Fight is dedicated to funding medical research, community education, and offering support to
people with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a life-altering gastrointestinal condition that her son has battled since birth.
Among her accolades, Kimberley was recognized as a Top 100 Joy Awards honoree in 2022 by award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson’s Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation for her outstanding dedication to mental health advocacy and her efforts to support the Black community.
