There is power in the voices of people who have genuine lived experiences. Linda, the mother of a Black son who is autistic knows the very real fear that comes with raising him. Eric is 20 years old and fears the fate of young people like him who communicate differently. Instead of sitting by and shuttering, paralyzed by their fear, Linda and Eric have harnessed their power and created Eric’s Law.
Eric’s Law allows those with silent disabilities, that may cause them to communicate differently, to self-identify with a decal on their ID or license. This legislation is a game changer for parents and children alike.
